Financial Aid

PURPOSE: To provide financial assistance to youth looking to participate in troop scouting activities who wouldn’t otherwise be able to do so.

Download the application: Financial Aid Application

1. Financial aid is only made available to registered Scouts in Troop 5749.

2. Each application is reviewed individually and must stand on its own merit. Completion of an application does not guarantee a grant.

3. Financial assistance is granted on verified need or hardship, and available Troop funds.

4. Applications will be reviewed and granted by the Troop’s Key-3 leaders (Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Chartered Organization Representative).

5. It is the belief of our Troop that every youth should have the opportunity to participate in scouting and scouting activities. The Scout Law states that “a scout is thrifty.” Scouts should make every effort to participate in fundraising activities whenever possible.

6. The financial aid application must be completed, in full, with the appropriate signatures before the application can be reviewed.

7. Financial aid requests made for summer camp, high adventures, and other costs outside of Troop dues are subject to the following rules: a. Each Scout is expected to earn and pay a portion of their fee. The need will determine the amount of the grant to be provided. Financial aid does not cover the costs of a medical examination. b. If the request is approved and the payment made, but the Scout fails to attend or participate in the activity, the grant money must be returned to the Troop.

8. Requests must be submitted at least one month prior to the fee due date.

9. Applications should be submitted to the Troop’s Committee Chair or Scoutmaster, and will then be considered by the Key-3 leaders (Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Chartered Organization Representative).
